Mr. Jim Carrey, You Got Me!

Well, it wasn’t really the Jim Carrey, but Mr. Lowkey, who I previously mentioned in my Thank You, New York post. I had been listening to “Mr. Lowkey” for several months on YouTube for his enlightening messages and how to move towards a more awakened presence. My husband had started the journey several years before me and I noticed how much more at peace he was, how he handled difficult situations with more grace and kindness and wanted to begin my journey as well. Mr. Lowkey’s channel put the lessons in a way that was easier for me to understand.

Then last night, someone commented on one of my posts that it wasn’t really Jim Carrey, it was AI. I knew the images were definitely AI and while I don’t support using AI myself due to the damage it causes to not only other true artists, but our environment as well, I wasn’t going to stop watching these messages. But what this young woman claimed sat in my gut like a large rock. I put my criminal law investigation hat on and took the deep dive. Down at the very bottom of the “disclaimer” it stated that the images, voices and messages were AI and not Jim Carrey at all. I was gutted.

I believed I was listening to someone who had gone through the dark struggles of life, come out on the other side with the experience to help guide others along the same journey. All I was doing was following a liar out for monetary purposes. There was no deep lessons here. Just some stranger who couldn’t create something unique and worthwhile on their own and resorted to lying to get their own way, pretending to be someone they are not.

It’s put a bad taste in my mouth, that I can’t get out. I’m seeing the world without my rose-colored glasses that I had gripped onto for so long and I see individuals who have no compassion, concern or morals for anyone other than themselves. Our society in America has become a “me, me, me” mentality of use anyone to get what you want, screw the consequences to others. Many are complaining on social media about corporations “using” the American people, but individuals are just as guilty.

I use social media to promote my books and my works, but I’ve never pretended to be anyone other than who I am. I also use it to bring laughter and to connect with others without the expectation of getting anything back from them other than maybe a chuckle or to bring a smile to someone’s face. Today I’m responding to one of my followers about our rooster named Animus, who I’ve nicknamed the “Devil”. It’s connecting on a personal level, not selling anything, not expecting anything, only answering a question one of my followers has asked.

While I am hurt, angry and disgusted with Mr. Lowkey and the fakeness about his/her entire YouTube channel, I will work on not lumping everyone in as a schemer. I want to connect to the real individuals who still look for that human connection and isn’t out to use everyone they meet. I know you are out there. Our circle may be getting smaller, but you are the ones I want to connect with and stay true to our own humanity.

Blessings.

PS @YouTube, you may want to remove that channel as numerous times in their videos, they do outright claim to be Mr. Jim Carrey.
